Comexi, high performance and added value solutions
08 May 2017
Comexi, as a global provider of flexible packaging solutions, will present at the Interpack trade fair its latest lamination, coating and slitting solutions. The group offers unique and efficient solutions to satisfy high market needs, with the highest levels of both quality and productivity, even in the most demanding jobs.
Over the last decades, Comexi has positioned itself as one of the leading and cutting-edge companies in the development of solutions for laminating and coating. At the Interpack Fair, visitors will have the opportunity to access the group’s extensive solutions catalogue with high performance laminators such as Comexi ML1 and Comexi SL2. These machines meet the high standards that the market requires both in high productivity and efficiency, and have an excellent reputation in their easy handling, fast changeovers, reliability and robustness.
Furthermore, these two laminators have developed new applications that improve production and data control, ensuring production traceability and quality control. Moreover Comexi laminators gather the necessary tools to maximize efficiency and minimize errors in the plant, as well as systems that increase energy savings.
The group also offers solutions to reduce environmental impact with solventless or water based applications, along with solvent based lamination.
Comexi L20000
Likewise, Comexi will present the new Comexi L20000, the water-based laminator specially designed for “just in time” laminations, which responds to the HP Indigo 20000 digital press’ needs. Emphasizing the group’s commitment to the environment, this innovation ventures for a more sustainable and efficient technology, eliminating solvents thanks to water-based lamination, without renouncing to the highest performance.
Comexi’s new water-based laminator is the result of a strategic partnership between HP Indigo and Comexi that responds to the new demands of the flexible packaging field. The need to reduce the life cycle of products, along with the rise of personalization in packaging, are two elements that have led to an increase in short-term jobs which also require a faster delivery time. In this sense, the Comexi L20000 enables job deliveries in less than 24 hours, thanks to the machine’s fast and intuitive start up, as well as it’s speed in curing water-based adhesives.
Comexi and HP booths in Interpack trade fair are in the same Hall 13 in order to facilitate customers visits.
Innovations in coating
In coating, Comexi will explain also its technical solutions to meet the growing demand in packaging for brand owners (heat seal, coatings, barrier varnishes and cold seal) in addition to other applications designed to enhance the added value of the final packaging on the shelf: at register matt or gloss coatings. Form Comexi’s wide portfolio, the versatile Comexi Dual and the high performance laminator Comexi ML1 must be highlighted, ensuring high quality jobs for big productions, together with efficiency and quality control.
Additionally, Comexi will also feature the Comexi Futura, designed to offer greater added value to packaging thanks to all its finishing options. The Comexi Futura guarantees holographic finishing due to the Cast & Cure technology, which create highly attractive visual register effects. Equally, the laminator enables cold-foil applications or UV lamination, amongst other coatings to give an attractive finish to the product, as well as solventless lamination. Comexi’s clients are achieving prestigious international awards as a result of innovative designs in their packagings.
High performance slitting
At the same time, visitors will have the opportunity to access the group’s slitting machines wide range. Comexi’s slitters guarantee shorter cycle productions due to faster acceleration, which include a tension isolation system that allows working with completely different tensions in the rewinding and unwinding areas. This system together with its ALTS rewinding system brings a more accurate rewinding and minimizes possible defects. Moreover, the entire group’s slitting machines, by being fully electric, assure energy efficiency, better data control and avoid waste due to oil leaks.
In its portfolio of slitting machines, Comexi offers the S2 line, which incorporates the Comexi S2 DT and Comexi S2 DS. These are versatile slitters with excellent guarantees in a wide range of jobs. By compiling the main features of Comexi’s slitting gamma, they guarantee resource optimization with the highest quality, productivity, flexibility and easy handling.
The S1 line is Comexi’s highest slitting gamma, which includes Comexi S1 DT and Comexi S1 DS, that ensure excellent results, both in quality and productivity, even in the most challenging jobs. These two slitters integrate regulation and control elements that allow producing jobs with handling difficulties, without many problems.
Comexi S1 MS new slitter
In Interpack 2017, Comexi will reveal its news slitter machine Comexi S1 MS designed to obtain excellent results in those jobs that require working with rigid or semi rigid materials – non stretchable – and with big outputs. The Comexi S1 MS is a top range machine with a new single-shaft system that allows you to work comfortably with large reels of paper, cardboard, self-adhesive tapes, aluminium, BOPP and other laminated structures that have a certain degree of rigidity or structures that won’t be easily stretch with low tensions.
The Comexi S1 MS has control systems that provide a real lecture of the tension at any situation. Thanks to its direct connection between the motor and the shaft this machine gives the most efficient response without using any transmission belt. The machine allows an optimal productivity with an automatic reel unloading.
In both S1 and S2 lines, Comexi slitters offer the possibility to work with a double turret or a double shaft. Double turret machines assure a higher performance, giving the slitters high production rates because they minimize downtime. It is especially noticeable in jobs with many output reels, such as those aimed for the label market.
In addition to the S1 and S2 lines, Comexi also producte the Comexi S-Turret slitter, a top-range machine with an innovative single-turret system, specially designed to obtain excellent results in those rigid materials that require working with high tensions and large output reels. The Comexi S-Turret includes innovative control systems, rewinding and changing jobs. It allows working at high speeds and offering high productivity.
It is also possible to integrate in-line into any slitting machine a module with a video camera full inspection.
Cingular Laser, added value
At Interpack Trade Fair, Comexi will also show the latest innovations in its awarded Cingular Laser technology, which can be fully integrated in-line in its slitting machines and that guarantees the best accuracy in applications such as easy open, perforation, pre-cut, numbering, slitting and alphanumeric codes.
The application includes a software system and laser control that allows the converter to create any shape in any direction of the packaging and at any speed, ensuring a perfect web tension control system.
With the aim to develop the best solutions adapted to the demanding requirements of the market, Comexi will also present the results of the research study that has been carried out in resealable packagings. Comexi also offers the possibility of studying tailored projects in order to automate all necessary operations once the reels left the slitting machine.
