The Comexi Group will have a presence in USA ICE to be held in Orlando, FL between 6 and 8 April. The ICE USA is a new exhibition dedicated to the flexible material converting.
The company is excited about the prospect of participating in this first ICE USA Exhibition in Orlando. The decision to exhibit at ICE USA was an easy one for Comexi stated John Ferreira, Vice President of Comexi North America, “the ICE organization’s track record for managing world class events has given us the confidence to jump back into the domestic exhibition arena. The venue is excellent and we anticipate that
traffic will be brisk.”
The Comexi Group was begun over fifty years ago by Manel B. Xifra and it is still run by the Xifra Family today. It is recognized worldwide as dynamic force in the manufacture of quality flexographic printing presses, solventless laminators, slitter rewinders and related peripheral equipment. Its over 3500 pieces of equipment can be found in more than 70 countries worldwide. It has sustained constant growth because of its ability to be a single source supplier for the flexible packaging industry.
At ICE USA, Comexi will be demonstrating its most popular solventless laminator, the Nexus Evo. According to Mr. Ferreira, “we decided to bring a laminator because this process has become one of the key factors in the food packaging industry. A global trend shows that solventless adhesives are pushing hard to be the most used in the market worldwide. Technology that has been around since the 1970’s appears to be experiencing a growth spurt.”
The reasons for this growth are numerous – stricter rules concerning safety and environment; the high cost of energy, machinery, etc. The packaging industry is focusing its efforts on a cleaner, safer and cheaper technology. For example, solventless adhesive package lamination uses 40 to 50 percent less energy and emits half of the CO2 than a solvent/water based adhesive. “Certainly”, adds Ferreira, “the environmental and safety issues are requirements that cannot be underestimated and emerging countries are adopting these rules as well.
Solventless adhesives represent an optimum solution for elimination of any possible solvent remnant in the laminate as well as clean emissions.”
